Mumps seems like it has less risk of serious complications or death, but I just skimmed the wiki pages.

Really over-the-top fight with a loved one over something minor you're both unlikely to admit you were wrong over - particularly because you both know how ridiculous it is to fight over - but if you finally do, you'll be fine...
Or, a "live and let live" relationship where you and your loved one accept each other as you are, but will never have the same level of mutual respect again because of a newly discovered fundamental ideological or moral difference?

That is, massive fight with someone you care about over something small, or prolonged endurable tension over something major?
